The tenth edition of the Windmill Whack will take place in 2025 with two new franchises lining up in the competition for the first time.
Our new main sponsors, Griffin Group, the Property People, will see their very own Griffin Grandmasters go for Windmill Whack glory having agreed to support the club for an initial three-year period. The Grandmasters will be sporting a stunning new navy and red kit for this summer’s competition and a spot with this new franchise will be much sought after at the upcoming Whack Draft Night.
Joining the Grandmasters will be the Brewdog Braves, with the Upminster branch of the craft beer chain supporting one of our franchises for the first time in 2025. The Braves’ sharp, new, black and turquoise kit will catch the eye of Whack watchers at Upminster Park this summer with the newcomers looking to make their mark on the competition.
We also welcome back three of our existing franchises who will be looking to make an impression in the tenth edition of the competition. The Govani Maestros, sponsored by Govani Chemists, are the only ever-present side in the competition having begun in 2016, and they will hope to add another title to the one they picked up in 2020. The Kushoom Bugh Tigers, backed by the Kushoom Bugh Tandoori Restaurant, were Whack winners in 2019 under the captaincy of Mark D’Cruz and they have been consistent performers since joining the competition in 2018. The Mullis & Peake Monarchs made it all the way to Finals Day last season before rain ruined their chances of glory, so the franchise backed by Mullis & Peake LLP, who last week announced they were to expand their sponsorship agreement with the club, will be looking to go even further this time and push for the title.
Sanjay Narbheram, the club’s Sponsorship Secretary, was keen to express the club’s gratitude to all of the Windmill Whack sponsors, both old and new: “We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to our existing sponsors, Kushoom Bugh, Govani Chemists and Mulis & Peake for their continued support of the Windmill Whack. Their ongoing generosity makes all the difference in ensuring the success of the event each year.
“We would also like to give a warm Upminster Cricket Club welcome to our new Whack franchise sides from Griffin Group and Brewdog. Their support means so much to us, and we are excited that their sides have joined us to make the Windmill Whack an even more unforgettable competition for everyone involved.”
Narbheram was also keen to emphasise the importance all of the sponsors play in what wis a special year for the Windmill Whack competition: “This year’s competition is even more special as we mark the tenth anniversary of the event. We are looking forward to seeing as many members as possible take part in the competition and we are excited to welcome our sponsors on matchdays during the summer.”
Draft Night for the competition will be taking place in late April or early May, so keep your eye on the club’s website and social media platforms for news on this exciting event.
