Nick Browne Testimonial match to bring curtain down on season

Upminster Cricket Club are pleased to confirm they will face an Essex CCC XI on Sunday 21st September, in aid of Nick Browne’s Testimonial Year.

This will be the 25th match of this nature (normally referred to as the Benefit Match) since the first staging in 1997. To celebrate the 25th anniversary, and to support Nick’s Testimonial Year, the day will include a number of events celebrating all aspects of cricket at Upminster CC.

Nick himself is well known to many members at Upminster due to his long association with South Woodford CC. Indeed, Nick was South captain in 2007 when his side won the U16 Matchplay Final at the County Ground, beating Upminster by 7 wickets. In the years after that Nick regularly opened the batting for South’s 1st XI against Upminster before breaking into the county side in 2013 and going on to become a near permanent fixture at the top of the Essex order in red ball cricket. He was a key member of the side who won the County Championship in 2017 and 2019, as well as the inaugural Bob Willis Trophy in 2020, and has now scored nearly 8,000 first class runs, with many more hopefully still to come.

Further details about the event, including sponsorship opportunities, will be available over the coming weeks.
