Upminster’s 1st XI will travel to Old Southendians this Saturday (weather permitting) for a first round encounter in the Dukes Essex League Cup. Pulkit Gupta’s side are yet to play so far this season, so they will be looking forward to getting their season underway. Mo Ahmad returns to the Upminster starting XI while Jamie Green and Ryan Oakes make their debuts in this competition (12.00pm start).

The winners of Saturday’s tie will travel to either Harold Wood or South Woodford on the 4th May. Other first round ties of note see Brentwood entertain Chelmsford in a mouth-watering contest, Shenfield and Billericay clashing in a local derby and European Champions Hornchurch hosting Orsett and Thurrock.

Upminster’s Men’s 2nd XI face Old Southendians in a reverse friendly fixture at Upminster Park (12.00pm start), while Aalok Latey will take a side to Chignal for a pre-season friendly (12.30pm start).

Sunday will see our Women’s 1st and 2nd XIs open their league campaigns for 2024. Paige Roach starred for the 1st XI last Sunday with an explosive 155 not out (the sixth highest score across the country in any form of club cricket last weekend), as Upminster saw off Hutton in the T20 National Cup at Coopers. The same two sides will face one another at Upminster Park this Sunday (1.00pm start) in Division One of the Essex Premier League. Meanwhile, the 2nd XI will travel to Billericay in Division Three of the Essex Premier League set-up (also 1.00pm).
