Awesome Pickering leads Panthers to Title

The Parish Panthers were crowned the 2016 Indoor Champions this past Sunday thanks to a brutal 73 from Louis Pickering. The Panthers got off to a terrible start losing both Kullars early on. Alan Ison soon removed James Aggio-Brewe and Paul Middlemiss in consecutive balls to leave the Panthers reeling at 40/4. Pickering and Curtis re-built the innings in true Upminster fashion by hitting 8 sixes between them. Pickering was eventually run out in the last over for a superb 73 and his ally John Curtis finished on 39*.

The Vikings reply got off to a solid start, scoring at a run a ball. In the 4th over Alan Ison (42*) let loose and smashed Pickering for 3 sixes and soon reached the premium batsman retirement figure. James Aggio-Brewe was the difference with the ball, bowling his 4 overs for just 28 runs including 1 maiden. He was well backed up by Kiran Kullar and John Curtis as the Vikings never got out of first gear. Dave Brown (28*) also managed to retire but it was too late for the Vikings as they lost by 29 runs.
